The humanitarian context of one of the greatest conflicts of the XXI century

On April 20th, at 6.30 p.m., the Estoril Conferences will organize, in Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, a debate about the war in Syria, focused on its humanitarian context, often set aside in the public debate in favour of political scenarios.

Two of the invited speakers are part of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) and have a long list of humanitarian missions, including during the last Aleppo siege in 2016. The third invited guest is a young Syrian man, a refugee himself and an academic dedicated to studying the Syrian conflict.

Maria Luz Méndez and Montse Pubill are two doctors from the Doctors without Borders: the first is a nurse and psychologist and the second an emergency team coordinator. Adam Al Alou is refugee PhD candidate, in Political Comparative Studies, at the Social Sciences Institute, in Lisbon.

For that reason, the debate will be amongst those that have experienced this war and have been on the field of this conflict.

The conference will be in English with translation to Portuguese and to attend please send an email to info@conferenciasdoestoril.org.
