On children’s day, June 1st, the first edition of the Estoril Conferences Junior will take place. This is a project developed between the Estoril Conferences organization and schools of the Cascais municipality, with the support of HUSE Innovation.
From the beginning that the Estoril Conferences have sought to include the youngest in the debates promoted by the organization, all throughout the previous four editions of the Estoril Conferences. Reason why, as the years went by, new projects and events were created and implemented, with the purpose of including the youth and putting them in the center of the most important issues.
This was why the Youth Summit, the Young Ambassador or the Global Boomerang were born.
This year, the organization went even further and included the youngest of youngsters in the debates of the Estoril Conferences.
“Vou ali e já venho: sobre migrações e comichões” is the starting point of the EC Junior project. For professors and students, for educators and pupils, for parents and sons. It is a book that, in an accessible way, answers one question that looks simple at first sight – “where do we come from?” – the answer, however, remains surrounded by controversy.
The challenge that was put to these kids, which finds support in the book’s story, is to present the human race to the aliens. This story, composed by six characters of different nationalities, races and creeds, has the purpose of illustrating the fact that, together, we’re all stronger.
The EC Junior project is being developed by the team of the Estoril Conferences, the design thinking team of HUSE Innovation and by teachers of basic education of the Malangatana e Raúl Lino schools, belonging to the municipality of Cascais. Between March 27th and May 31st, both schools will work with the kids around this challenge, with the support of their parents.
Both parents and teachers will have the book “Vou ali e já venho: sobre migrações e comichões”, the “Manual Professores Desenvolvimento” and the “Passaporte Desenvolvimento”. The results will then be presented on June 1st, during the EC Junior, in Estoril Congress Center.
