Ambassador Mehmet Samsar has been the Director General for Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, since 2014. Prior to assuming the leadership of consular affairs of the Turkish Foreign Service, he served for several years in the Turkish diplomatic and consular missions abroad: performing the duties of the Turkish Ambassador to Ukraine and Consul General in New York.
Mehmet Samsar has also led the Cabinet of the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, and has obtained extended professional experience serving as the Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations, New York. Prior to these, Mehmet Samasar had diplomatic missions to Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Vienna.
Ambassador Mehmet Samsar has obtained his B.A. in Political Sciences and Public Administration at the Middle East Technical University, and his M.A. at the Institute of Social Sciences of Gazi University.
